Default New vBa Links Releases Addressing thumbshots.com Issues

Recently thumbshots.com (the provider of website thumbnail images for vBadvanced Links Directory) changed their system and code for thumbnail images, which has caused these images to stop working within vBa Links Directory. We have just released vBa Links v4.2.7 (for vB4) and v3.3.2 (for vB3) to address this and update the code. For anyone using thumbshots.com to display website thumbnails in their links directory, we recommend upgrading as soon as possible. Once you have upgraded, you will need to go to thumbshots.com and register an account there to obtain an API key. Once you have obtained your API key, you can login to your vBulletin Admin CP and go to vBa Links Directory => Modify Settings => Thumbshots.com Options and enter your key in the first setting there to get your thumbnails working again.

    Upgrading:
Upgrade instructions are the same as usual and may be found in the readme.html file in the download package.

Sorry for what may be a silly question but having uploaded and installed the latest Links Directory for vB4 I can't locate anything to do with Thumbshots.com

Solved. I had to re-upload the install file and redo the settings install.

Could you describe where you found your API key or the request form to obtain it?

Log in to you account and then via the top menu go to My Account > Thumbshot Images > Manage Plan

Your API key shows top right of the information shown.

Still no images show in my Links Directory however.

What do I need to do?

Step 1: Please click here to sign up a Free Thumbshots plan. Click on Get This button to sign up for a Free plan.

Step 2: Next, go to My Account > Thumbshots Images > Manage Plan to get your new code

I've spoken to Thumbshots.com and they have told me the following. It would appear the links in the Links Directory need to be updated:

    Hi Neal,

Please replace your http://open.thumbshots.org/image.aspx?url=xxxx code with the new code you find under My Account > Thumbshots Images > Manage Plan page.
The new code should look like http://images.thumbshots.com/image.aspx?cid=yyy&url=xxx

    Thanks,
    Stephen
I've tried to change the URL in the templates (2 of them) and all i'm left with is a white space where an image should be. I've disabled Thumbshots.com for now.
