Default Custom Fields as Category Fields

Is there a built in way or does anyone have a way to turn custom fields into category categories while making them sortable? (like rating, last post, replies, views) Is it possible to make them clickable to view other entries with the same data?

Default

I'm sure that's possible, but is not a default feature and would require a bit of work and code changes.
