Default Problems with registering

Hi

I seem to have a problem with my registration for this site. It says I don't have a licence but i have. I posted to Vbulletin about it and the answer i got was this:

Dear Martyn

Thank you for your e-mail.

In order that you receive the benefits from vbadvanced, you need to have selected one of the vBulletin banners on the vbadvanced site, which would have automatically recorded your purchase as an affiliate program purchase. However, there is no affiliate tag attached to this purchase and we have to therefore assume that this link was not used.

As a gesture of good will, if you ask vbadvanced for their PID, I will arrange for the transaction to reflect the affiliate purchase and for vbadvanced to be credited and this should enable vbadvanced access.

It is a bit complicated, but this should get you access. Please let me know the details and if you have any other queries.

Kind regards

Ashley Busby
Business Manager, vBulletin

Please can you help?

Martyn

That's not what you need. They thought you meant that vBadvanced should get a referral credit for your vBulletin purchase, or something.

All you need to do is follow these instructions, and you'll be marked as licensed here on this site:

No clue why vB would have replied with something like that...

Here's some quick, easy steps for you:
1). If you haven't already, register for an account on vbulletin.org.
2). Click here, enter your customer number and password that was emailed to you with your vBulletin license. Then enter the email address you registered with on vbulletin.org in one of the boxes provided.
3). If you are just now able to do this, wait about an hour and then go back to vbulletin.org, make sure you are logged in, then go to this link.
4). Copy the password from that link and enter it in the box on our licensing page.

From that response it sounds like Ashley at Jelsoft is confusing vbadvanced.com with phpportals since that is their campaign (buy vB from their banner ad, get access to the product).

ok, its still showing me as unlicensed.

I need some help here

I have followed all the steps provided and still I can not access this sites downloads section. This is getting irritating trying to prove that im licensed. Im licensed currently and I want access to this site. So, can some one assist me here please. Please dont just refer me to those same posts linked to the common directions. The is an issue here and something is not getting across between the vbulletin.org, vbulletin.co,, and vbadvanced.com websites.

The only thing I can suggest at this time is to make sure that the email address you entered on this page matches the email address you signed up at vbulletin.org with exactly, and to make sure that you are logged in at vbulletin.org when you are trying to view the password. I know that vb.com just changed quite a bit in their members' area and such, so it's possible (though I'd say somewhat unlikely) that there is a bug there.

well i have everything done correctly as the email addys. I think the check sys is buggen out on use. I doubt that it all of us having the same problem with the registering.

The thing is VB.com say they dont support vbadvanced since its 3rd party software. vbadvanced says to check vb.com becausae its there database the checks are pulling from and little ol vb.org is like WTF is going on.

LOL

There need to be ONE point of contact for these problems because if we cant take advantage of the vbadvances then i would not have reregistered my vbulletin software and went to another cms that has its stuff together

So my question is, Is there one point of contact that can get anything done here? Maybe a liaison for these software companies? Some one that can get answers? and get mi access to the downloads?

Please Help

I've just registered a new account on vb.org with a new email address entered in the customer area at vb.com, so I'll see what it does for me and if there is in fact a problem with vB's system.

Hmm, maybe a new kind of license check could make things easier, not only for vBAdvanced.

What about Jelsoft installing a script in their members area that takes a URL and some variables.
When a user accesses this script, they hash the variables, encrypt it with a private RSA key, then post the variables and the encrypted hash back to the URL provided.

Example
User newuser want's to get access to vBAdvanced downloads.
Now there is some text "Please go to the following link in you vBulletin.com members area to show that you are licensed". The link would be http://www.vbulletin.com/memberarea/...checkid%3D1234

Now when Jelsoft posts checkid=1234 back to http://www.vbadvanced.com/licensecheck.php, this script would hash the variables again, decrypt the hash (with Jelsofts public key) and determine if both hashes do match.
If so, the account linked to checkid=1234 has a valid license.

This way, there would be a standard solution for all vBulletin related sites to easily check if a user has a valid license, without Jelsoft having to reveal any customer information.

Looks like there is a problem with the vb.com/vb.org verification system at the moment. It's certainly not fair to make you guys wait any longer for something that is not your fault, so I have gone ahead and marked your accounts as licensed.
