I've figured a way of bypassing the issue with the attachments for the moment that will allow proper importing of forum threads. The following needs to be done:

On line 157 add /* at the start of the line.
On line 180 add */ at the end of the line.

On line 368 add /* at the start of the line.
On line 462 add */ at the end of the line.
