Default Hide custom fields in post, but allow them to be searched

Is there a way for me to hide a particular custom field from the download page, but allow for it to be searched? For example, I offer Sims downloads on my site, and would like to add a 'Price Range' custom field, but don't want this to be shown on the actual download post page, but would like my members to be able to search using the field.
