Default Show items by custom field entry?

I have several custom fields that have a drop-down box. Is there a way to search the options in the box? For example, I have a custom field 'Room' with options such as 'Dining,Bedroom,Kitchen' etc. I'd like these options to be underlined and searchable from the listings page in the same way that the categories are:
