Question Links Dir Custom Fields... can I...

... get them to accept an image URL to be used as a screenshot...?

I want to add a new data item to the Links templates that displays a 100*100 screenshot of the site being submitted. I appreciate that this will for the time being, need to be a manual insertion. However, if the submitter could provide either a logo or screenshot themselves I would be happy for them to submit it with the URL submission in a Custom Field specifically for this.

I appreciate that I might need to do a bit of work on the submitted image to reduce it to the required size... but with GD this should be fairly easy to implement for someone.

Any thoughts on teh custom field question...?

Brian / Anyone

Is there a way to add a Custom Field that will accept an image, or the URL of an image that I can then use as the basis for displaying a thumbnail of the sumbitted URL in my Links Directory?

I appreciate that this will be a manual exercise and that I (or someone) will have to take a screenshot of the submitted page... or perhaps we can get the sumbitter to do this and add the url to where they stored the image...

Any ideas please?

It's not something that would be that easy to do. If you're at least somewhat comfortable with PHP though you could probably use some of the functions from the gallery along with some other code snippets to create something.

I might just have a go at that. The gallery (if I remember) does indeed use GD2 to create thumbnails... I'll take a peek at that code and try to get it sorted.

Ta Brian....

PS: PM's?
