Integrating Other vB Pages & Hacks - Navbar

I have successfully integrated my CMPS column with a custom vBulletin page. However, the page is not recognizing that I have the navbar turned off in the CMPS. I tried removing the $navbar reference from the main page template of the script but it still shows. The only pages I would like to see the Nabar on is the forum & gallery pages. Any suggestions...?
