Angry Now you will need to chmod the /forums/modules folder to 777:

what the heck does this mean????

What it means is you have to use your site host manager (perhaps cpanel) to change the permissions of this folder to 777, which allows it to be written to.

I don't know where this statment came from but you should never change anything to 777 unless you have complete control over the server.

You should change all directories to 750 and set the owner to be you and the group to be your webserver's group.

Any directories the webserver needs to write to should be 750 and any files should be 660.

that's a lot of replies. its just not working, none of it. i went through with the installation completely but when i point the browser at the new homepage it just goes to the old one.

im about to mash my fist through this table................

well i started playing with the FTP uploader and there's an option for chmod
but i type 777 and nothing happens

Sounds like you have an existing .html or .htm index file in your root. Either that, or you didn't change cmps_index.php to index.php.

HEy people

I have done everything BUT THE CMPS doesnt show up it says

Note: Your modules directory is not writable. This will prevent you from being able to easily upload new modules through the admin interface. To correct this problem, please chmod your modules folder to 777.

Wich files more i hace to chmod
