Or, it could be that you didn't follow the CMPS installation instructions for editing global.php.

It is strange the way so many people forget to fully edit their global.php file. I myself have been hacking away at php scripts for years by following instructions laid out that way with nary an error and I too missed that last part. I think it is because the

// ######################## START TEMPLATES & STYLES ###########################

and

// ######################### END TEMPLATES & STYLES ############################

parts look so much alike that many don't even notice that last step is there. That last step is phrased like an optical illusion or psychological trick.

Those modifications won't be necessary anymore once 2.1.0 is released.

Yep, 2.1.0 is a huge improvement. CMPS was the last file-edit hack I use, so now upgrades will be that much faster.
