Hi
I have some html code that I want to be displayed inside a module. I have read that it is best to add a template module rather than a BBCode module for this, but I can't find how to add a template. I have tried just "adding one" and I have to select a template to include. I'm not sure where this file has to be at all. I would areciate answers in the form of an idiots guide if possible (i.e. step by baby step) Thanks, John |

John,
There are two different ways of displaying HTML templates in a CMPS page. You can either create a new module or you can create a new page. The biggest question is: Are you trying to display an existing HTML file within a CMPS page or are you trying to display a small HTML snippet within a CMPS page? That answer will determine which steps to guide you through. |

Hi
I'm trying to display a html snippet inside a module on a page. In this case it is a small form to allow newsletter subscriptions. Thanks, |

Well, it sounds like you were on the correct path.
When you selected NEW MODULE, and you chose TEMPLATE module as the "new type" of module, it had the NAME, Postion, and other boxes and then there was the larger box that you put your snippet that you are talking about into. And then it was asking for you to give it a adv_portal_SOMETHING_HERE name. So give it a name of whatever you want. adv_portal_snippet_of_html. Make sure you put that snippet in the large text box for the "templates' content and click teh SAVE button at the bottom of the page. Then if you ever want to go back to edit that template again, it will be located at the top of the list of templates in your adminCP. With all the other templates for your site. Not a special location for vbadvanced. AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Edit Templates (Drop down list top right corner) You'll notice the list of templates, and that template module you created automatically created a corresponding template that YOU gave that name to. You should see your template towards the top of the list titled adv_portal_WHATEVER-YOU-CALLED-IT That make sense? |

Thanks Mortys
That makes it perfectly clear. Although I think the guys who wrote vBa should look at rephrasing some bits as it was asking what template I want to include. I sounds like from what you are saying that I am actually naming the template there. I'll give it a try, but it is all pretty clear now. Thanks mate. |

Yes, you're right. YOU are doing the naming. The thing there is, you CAN give the name of an already created template I believe. I've never personally done that, but I believe you can.
But in YOUR case, you are CREATING and GIVING a name for that template that your module will be using. Happy to hear I helped. Enjoy! |
