Changing the borders on blocks

Well I guess I'm getting good with asking question, but they always seem to pop up.

Anyway I want to change the whole look of the blocks, but I don't want all the blocks to have the same. I would like to have the left blocksflow in with my header, and then the center and right blockswith a differnet look.

The only way I can see this happening is to make a css style for each block. If this si wrong plz tell me.

I love CMPS, but I hate the way that you end up with 18 differnet block that have the same borders.If you need me to clarify, I would be happy too

To clarify...you want left blocks to look like X.
You want center and right blocks to look like Y?

So you have 2 different "styles" of blocks? Or are the center and right blocks supposed to be different? Which would then give you 3 different styles of blocks?

Perhaps instead of just writing that he should modify the templates as needed, you could post how he could modify the templates. You posted the same response twice, but never actually answered his question.
Modifying the templates to reflect the borders is a valid response,however, explaining or inserting the code into your post would have been far more effective. He wants to know "how" to change them,so some instruction and guidance would be nice.

Gee, do you think that maybe I wrote the same thing twice because he never answered the question the first time? Wow, who knows, maybe I was even trying to make sure that I understood what exactly he was trying to do before giving the wrong answer.

Zellbet,

The answer depends upon how complicated or simple your desired look is. For the blocks you want to modify what parts of them are you trying to modify, just the colors & graphic or something a bit more complicated like adding a graphical border around the box or some other method to make them look different from each other?

If you give a little insight on what you want the end result to look like I'm sure somebody can come up with the appropriate code.

If I new how to modify the templates so that each of the blocks carried their own appearance, I would have answered it for him. However, I don't know how that is done, so I could not elaborate. Apparently though, you did. Now out of 3 posts in this thread, you STILL haven't explained how to do it.

Can't you just edit the (code goes here) to make it display a different look? By asking the initial question that you presented, you knew he was trying to change the appearance. The general question of how to do the task has been answered already and that answer is to modify the templates. However, in order to proceed it needs to be narrowed down as to what type of change wants to be done because a 100 people could post a 100 different examples of how to "change" a module but none of them might be what he's after. Heck, even something as simple as changing just the colors could produce several totally different answers. Understand?

If you want to be helpful you could start by canning the chatter that's doing nothing but filling up this thread and allow the original poster to explain what type of change he wants to do so somebody can give an example of that type of change.

That is true, we need to know exactly what it is he is wanting. We can't just tell by his question. You can't say just edit (code goes here) because depending on what he's wanting the code to change will be different.
Here's a hint though the code you want to modify will be in your VBACMPS templates in the "Edit Templates" area of the style manager, it'll probably be the adv_portal template and just about all of the other ones depending on which features you are using. I advise using a test board because you can mess up your portal pretty bad if you take out something you shouldn't.
