Default The vanished icons

At the frontpage of my vBadvanced CMPS the icons (i.e. the avatar and the forum post icon) doesn't show up. In my admin cp I have changed the paths to include the full "http://www... etc" and as a result the icons in the forum are all OK. Just not on the front page where the news are situated.

Are you sure you changed the paths for all of your existing icons & smilies and also the paths in all of your styles? The graphic "icon1.gif" is trying to load http://www.sivertsen.net/images/icons/icon1.gif instead of http://www.sivertsen.net/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif -- My bet is that if you edit the properties of the icon you'll find it says /images/icon1.gif instead of /forum/images/icon1.gif

Check under "Post Icons --> Post Icon Manager" and also "Smilies --> Smilie Manager".

When I rolled out CMPS on my site I made two mistakes. The first was not updating all of my existing icons & smilies to be relative to my home directory instead of the default forum directory. In other words, all of the existing stuff was defaulting to "images/whatever.gif" because it was assuming that it was already in the "/forum" directory so it didn't have to specify the full path but because CMPS runs out of my home directory it wasn't finding the "images/..." path.

The second mistake I made was that when I went to add new smilies & icons I did a bulk update by moving them into the ../images/smilies folder. When I then added them they all defaulted to "images/smilies/whatever.gif" but I realized that I really wanted to over-ride the default and (in my case) specify "/forums/images/smilies/whatever.gif".

Assuming that you didn't add a ton of custom icons & smilies it should only take a few minutes to make the updates in Icon Manager and Smilie Manager. And in the future when you bulk add new ones just remember to specify the full relative path so you can avoid my problem #2 above.

You may want to make sure that your 'Show Default Post Icon' setting in your admin cp is set to the full url. Even if it is, try saving your settings so that the cache will be updated.

Exactly the same is happen to me.
My icons are in .../forum/images/icons/... but the path to the incon in the homepage is .../images/icons/...
I have run the install script to uptade path three or four times, and the last line ( the icon paths) is allways checked (the little box at the left) and is the only one that is checked.

No progress on this one. I've changed the path for the icons in Post Icon Manager and Smilie Manager, but no success.

'Show Default Post Icon'
Where is this?

I don´t see it, in my post icon manager I don´t have any option to change the path.

If a enter to an icon propierties I can see that the path is /forum/images so it´s right

posting a link to your site to see your problem would be a good idea, or if you prefer, submitting a ticket in the help support here at vbadvanced will be helpful too...

I probably did something wrong somewhere, so I've decided to reinstall everything for the third time.

Hi. I am in the same position with this. And I feel bad, because I have read about ten threads on this here and have not been able to distinguish a solution to this problem. All of my original post icons showed up fine on the vBadvanced CMPS, but I uploaded all original post icons and now they don't...

I run vB3.0.3:

1. My post icons show in the forumdisplay, but not in latest topics.
2. When I edit the paths via "Post Icon Manager", they show up on the latest topics, but not on the forumdisplay.
3. And it says specifically not to use the full path in my adminCP!

What exactly is the solution to this, I'm sorry if I missed it somewhere. But I am a newbie and get confused easily.

You're entering the path incorrectly. Make sure it's set to either http://yoursite.com/forum/images/whatever.gif, or /forum/images/whatever.gif
