What is the point of the Page>>Options field "CMPS URL"

When addidng or editing CMPS pages There is an entry field "CMPS URL - The full URL to the CMPS file"

What is the point of this field?
What does it do?

Lets say I have 2 CMPS files and 2 CMPS pages

CMPS File 1: /index.php
CMPS File 2: /forums/index.php

Page 1:
Name = "Welcome"
pageid=home
CMPS URL = /index.php

Page 2:
Name = "Forums"
pageid=forums
CMPS URL = /forums/index.php

What are the effects of having done this?
Do page links get generated differently based on the different CMPS URL's?

If I'm thinking correctly then the only place that is used is in the navbar breadcrumbs when you are viewing a CMPS page other than your homepage.
