Default NNTP and vBulletin?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use vBulletin with an NNTP server?

There's a NNTP hack at

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92588

although it hasn't been updated in 2 years. It appears that some folks have it working on 3.6.8. Read the messages for some code updates.

I'm somewhat interested in getting it working too. I'm using an RSS feed instead at the moment from one of the newsgroups. That's kinda ok, but it'd be nice to have the actual news group messages instead of a little summary and a link to the full message.

Let us know how it goes. If I get the chance I'll probably dig into it again. I briefly looked at it and got a bit confused about the news server parameters. Time to revisit them.

This program will allow you tu use vBulletin as a news reader. I want one that will allow you to use a news reader to read/post on a vBulletin forum.

Does something like this exist?

Have you tried asking this at vbulletin.com or .org? You might get a better answer at one of those sites since it really doesn't have anything to do with vBadvanced.

It would be pretty hard to do this with php. You'd need an nntp server module in order for it to work. Only compiled code can do that. You search for a .Net version like community servers nntp addon. Even if you find one you'll still need a bridge to vbulletin.
