Default Frontpage Slideshow

Hi guys,

I recently installed VBA CMPS and I've seen sites with CMPS have frontpage slideshow installed. I was wondering if anyone of you know how to do this? Thanks in advance.

I also need some help with a module for Frontpage Slideshow.

Please don't direct me to vbCover. I've already bought Frontpage.

I got mine working by using these two links.... http://forum.joomlaworks.gr/index.ph...c5d&topic=99.0 and http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showt...92#post1279992

I'm not the brightest bulb in the bunch when it comes to this stuff and was able to get it. Good luck!

I actually changed over to the vBslideshow because the Frontpage Slideshow was giving me way too many errors messages (wouldn't come up about 1/3 of the time on page impressions) and had too many queries.

vBslideshow doesn't have any queries (xml) and is A LOT easier to install. Plus, the support is top shelf and miles ahead of the support over at FPSS. And, vBslideshow has an option to add audio to your presentation.

Here's a link vBslideshow

What problems have you had? I haven't encountered any so far.

The admin panel indicates that there are 3 different options for image display, however, I'm only getting two, which is resulting in my image showing as too small or two large. It's not re-sizing, when I chose the resize option.

vBCover support hasn't been helpful in resolving the problem...

Interesting. The support there was light years ahead of the 'other' (FPSS) solution that I had installed.

Good luck in getting it resolved.

you seem to be the only one with this problem.
When I ask you to do something, you insist it is done (example: setting permissions), and then after wasting valuable time, I had to prove to you that it was not.

In general, if you need help, you can't pretend to know it all.

If you wanted a resizer, you should have bought adobe photoshop or fireworks.

Weren't you the guy who wanted to display the first frame of a movie as a jpg in the slideshow?

Now you want me to fit a 640 x 480 image exactly the way it is in a 500x300 space!!!

Until you understand that you'll be loosing some ... not much can be done

FYI, I'm a woman. The the 'guy', however, working on my site is also having the problem...

Your post's aggressive 'tone', however, indicates 'issues' that go beyond malfunctioning products: Poor customer service coupled with a healthy dose of attitude - *Future buyers be advised*

I'll be looking even closer at Frontpage Slideshow now (which is what this thread is for...)

Based on the above post, I can't see how it could be worse. I hope they don't stalk customers on other sites and address them with comments like:

"...after wasting valuable time, I had to prove to you that it was not. In general, if you need help, you can't pretend to know it all. If you wanted a resizer, you should have bought adobe photoshop or fireworks."

^That^ alone speaks volumes about the company and quality of the customer support.

BTW, to any future buyers, here are the options the products *claims* to have (copied verbatim from the slideshow admincp). As I've noted, the THIRD option is nonfunctional, and as noted above, apparently requires the purchase of a 3rd party product. This is not disclosed at the time of purchase):

* Full size will not resize, but will show part of image. Best option if you are planning to use large images

* Fit available area will resize image up and down to display entire image

* Resize to fit available area if too large

If you can't understand things and have an installer, you should ask him/her to communicate with me.

I'm not sure that communication with you is possible.

belai123, thanks again for the Frontpage Slideshow instructions!

Good luck. It's your money... but before you do, take a close look at image number 4
http://www.frontpageslideshow.net/

As you will see it is only displaying part of the image, not the full image as you want.

If your targeted display area is low like the attached image, it will display exactly the same way.

yeah, so you use images the same size or larger then your display, it's easy. I use FPSS and love it, I thought about going to vbcover's product that Arny told me about elsewhere but after seeing this little display, I'll stick with FPSS.

I was using FPSS and it was working fine at first. Then, it started having issues with errors popping up on the page and being stuck on a picture without being able to move to the next picture without reloading the page. Plus, it 'seemed' to be slowing down my site's load time.

Once I moved over to Lionel's product, vBslideshow, it worked great. Plus, I had the addition of being able to use an audio file on top of the slideshow which was a huge plus for my site and it's members.

Now, I have used both and I can tell you that I've enjoyed communicating with Lionel and that his support was, in fact, light years ahead of the Joomla folks (given that I never got a response out of them)....but, I can only speak for myself and my interaction with Lionel directly.

As far as the display, you just have to play with the sizes. Both products worked well with regards to this....you simply have to edit the pictures to fit properly in either one.

vBCover is a great product. If you think another product will be better for you, then you should go for it. I installed vbcover and its doing a great job for me and the support is great.

Yep, the missing images was annoying the heck out of me (just installed it tonight to play with). Some digging into the code and I fixed the missing images problem (obviously the guys who wrote the code aren't familiar with vBulletin's table nuances) and got it working as a vBadvanced CMPS html template module (pretty easy once the other problems were fixed).

Before I put it on a production page, though, the queries and required guest permissions are still bugging me. I don't think there is a way of getting around the permissions issue (because of the way that vB serves attachments) but the queries should be able to be tweaked.

I never had any missing/broken images problem when I used that product almost 2 years ago. My biggest problem was the queries. If I put 10 images or more, my server load used to shoot up to the sky and the server will crash.

Now, I am currently display 150 images on my site without one single query and with instant loading
