First off, this is not the place to be posting problems or questions, as specifically mentioned in the fist post of the thread. (moved to it's own thread now)
Secondly, there is nothing to "fix" as it is working as intended. We may add support for the lightbox in a future version, but I cannot say when that would be.

So don´t say vBadvanced CMPS v3.0.1 was 3.7 compatible.

If it miss this Defaultfunction - that was of course create with the focus on Portalnews - it is not.

This is a Blocker-Bug and nothing else.

But i guess we never get this Feature - the same like a integrated RSS-Feed Module your Community is wishing for Years, isn´t it?

Call it what you would like, but it's still not a bug, and it has nothing to do with 3.7 compatibility.

As for RSS modules, there are at least a couple available in the add-on module forums that seem to work just fine. Why spend time re-inventing the wheel when we can be creating new things?

Oh, i don´t know that the Web2.0 Functions from vB 3.7 are backwards!

1. Lightbox is a new Feature to display Images the way the Webmasters requested. Jelsoft understands this and implemented it. But you are right - why should you do what the thousands of Users of our Communitys want .....

2. RSS Modules in the Add-On Module Form - sure - they are working rudimentary. Show me any other CM(P)S that is ignoring a 'real' RSS Function in the Year 2008.

BTW - any real new Features in vBadvanced since 2.0? I am very happy now that you announced us "new things" after 2 Years.

You sure do have a funny attitude for somebody that's using free software and getting free support. Anyways...

1). I never said that would not be implemented. Just that it has not yet and I cannot guarantee when it will at this time. We never announce new features until they are actually coded in.

2). Sorry if those are not what you are looking for, but at this time our focus is not going to be on RSS.


There have been 6 new versions released since 2.0, most all of which have new features. There are announcements in this forum for each version listing the changes as well.

Brian, i really like vBa - otherway i would not use it - but it is very frustrating that there are no new Features to use vBa integrated in a fully Web 2.0 Project even if vBulletin has made this Way now with 3.7.

I don´t please you for some useless Features - i only please you to use Features that Jelsoft brings in for CMS and Portals.

And if i give a look to 2.x vBa and 3.x vBa there are only some cosmetic Changes.

• Welcome Block
  • Option in the Welcome Block module to enter your own URL to the noavatar.gif. Also accepts PHP variables allowing you to use the same image for multiple styles, or use a style folder variable.
  • The "Show Avatars" User CP option will now be taken into account and hide the avatar in this module for users who do not have that option enabled.
  • Better handling of the new posts count, making sure that this count is reset when forums are marked as read.

Admin CP

• The main "Edit Modules" page has been changed to list each module in a new row showing the module's title, active status, controls (copy, delete, add/remove from pages), type, and the page(s) it is active on.
• "Default Settings" page now shows a list of setting groups and module's that have settings (more like the vBulletin Options link), making it easier to navigate to the settings you wish to edit.
• Javascript "check-all" boxes throughout for the permissions settings.
• Preview option for BB Code modules and pages.
• Footer rows with "Save" buttons added to pages that may contain a lot of settings, allowing you to easily save the page without scrolling or using your keyboard.
• The "Advanced Options" section when editing a page now shows a list of setting groups and modules with a + image next to the title allowing you to expand the settings for that group or module. This prevents the page from getting extremely long when there are a lot of settings, and makes it easier to find the exact group or module you are looking for.
• More obvious messages with settings descriptions reminding you that the setting has been customized within specific pages if applicable.
• New option within the "Module Wrapper Template" (formerly Module Shell Template) options to collapse modules by default.
• New option to allow you to specify a different "Module Wapper Template" on a per-module basis.
• More options to handle duplicate filenames and templates when uploading modules.
• Over 50 hook locations making things even easier to customize for developers.
• "Templates Used" setting for PHP file modules changed to separate template names with a carriage return (new line) instead of a comma, making it a little easier to view the templates listed.
• New PHP file module options to initialize the BB code parser, forum permissions, moderator cache, and ignored/tachy'd users. This helps to improve performance on CMPS pages that may not use one or all of these.
• Options within the Welcome Block, Recent Threads, and News Archive modules allowing you to change between a "lean" and "expanded" version of the templates, or have the CMPS dynamically select the best template to use based on the size of the column the module is placed in.

Back-end / Miscellaneous Changes

• 'adv_portal_shell' template has been renamed to 'adv_portal_wrapper'.
• latesttopics.php has been renamed to recentthreads.php.
• New "serialized" column added to the 'adv_settings' table, allowing you to automatically serialize the setting in the database. Also automatically unserializes the setting in the settings cache, preventing the function from having to be called within the files.
• The default CMPS homepage data is now cached and processed in the datastore table to prevent a query to gather this data.
• Permissions and template lists are pre-formatted when the module cache is updated, saving processing power on the front-end of the program.
• BB Code module options (the 'options' column in the 'adv_modules' table) now stored as an integer instead of a serialized array. Also used to store the new PHP file module options. Related to this, the 'cleanoutput' column has been removed and is now included in the bitfields with this column.
• adminfunctions_vba_cmps.php file has been renamed to vba_cmps_adminfunctions.php in order to keep the same prefix for all CMPS files in this folder.

3.0 RC2

When adding a new template page, there is now a place to include the content for the template (similar to when adding a template module).

New setting in the Recent Threads module to allow you to display the "first new post" image linking members to the first unread post in the thread.

New settings in the News module allowing you to enable/disable displaying the number of replies and views.

Integration method updated to include the top portion of the template including all code before the <body> tag (helpful for integrating pages that require custom javascript or other code in their <head> tags).

When uploading a module, it is now possible to select multiple styles to install the templates to.

In addition to the ability to preview BB code modules and pages, you may now preview PHP file and template modules/pages as well.

The "Modules Enabled" section when adding/editing a page will now split into multiple rows if you have more than 3 locations, preventing the custom columns from stretching the page.

When deleting pages, it now checks to see if the page has been used in integration and allows you to remove that page from your integration settings before deletion (prevents a problem where deleting a page used in integration results in a "No page specified" error message in the files the page was integrated with).

New "Diagnostics" link in the Admin CP that will scan for missing module files, incorrect URL settings, and outdated CMPS files on your server.

The majority of the code to process module has been moved into a plugin that is called in the vBulletin print_output() function, preventing modules integrated with vBulletin pages from being unnecessarily processed on page redirects and other times when they are not needed.

If a module is saved with the "Apply Forum Permissions" setting enabled, but the "Initialize Forum Permissions" setting disabled, the "Initialize Forum Permissions" setting will automatically be enabled as forum permissions may not work properly otherwise.

Links added to the navbar template via hooks (or the $template_hook variables) will now have the Navbar Replacements function run on them, allowing you to update these links via the Navbar Replacements setting.

New Options / Features:
Integrated with the vBulletin products/plugin system so that it is no longer necessary to modify any vBulletin files to install the product.
Option to use the post cache on news posts. This will prevent each news post from having to parse the bb code on each page view, and help with the page generation time.
Options to set a cut-off date for news, recent threads, and polls. This could be used to pull threads from a specific date instead of a set limit, plus can help to prevent large table scans if used in conjunction with max threads options.
New posts part of welcome block improved. A new column is added to the 'session' table during the install/upgrade for new posts. If you use the cookie mark read system, this column will be updated whenever a new post is made and only once when the CMPS page is first viewed by a user. This helps to prevent a query, that can be rather large in some cases, once the user has already viewed the page once. Note that this does not apply if you use the database thread marking system since it is a bit harder to calculate new posts with that system.
The top poster is now stored in a cache which is updated once every x hours. This allows us to pull the info for the user based on the userid rather than calculating the top poster on each page impression, which results in a scan of one column rather than a scan of every user.
BB Code modules are now parsed once the module is saved and the parsed code stored in a different column. This will result in slightly more space used for the modules, but will not require the BB code to be parsed on each page load, saving page generation time.
'Add Page' option now listed with the 'Edit' and 'Delete' options when viewing your pages to make it a litte easier to add a child page.
More page information is now stored in a cache, which allows the Site Navigation module to use this instead of gathering the information in a query. The tree structure is also generated when pages are saved instead of in the Site Navigation module now, saving more page generation time.
The "optional file modification" that is listed in the readme file to group the CMPS templates is now a plugin that is installed by default.
Tachied / Ignored users are now taken in account for the latest threads, news, and poll sections.
With the Current Poll module, if the user has already voted, the option they voted for will now be shown as itallic.
All currently known bugs have been fixed.

Sorry if that's not enough for you, but I think most members here would agree that it's turned into a pretty nice product over the years, especially considering that it's free. And those are certainly a LOT more than just "cosmetic" changes.

Wow, it sounds like you are thanking Brian for all the hard work he has done since you joined in here in 2004. I would like Lightbox feature myself and that is how I found this thread. But I get angry when I see how some twonk just has no respect or manners when dealing with others. There are other CMS's tied to vB so if you don't like CMPS then vote with your feet (mouse) and pester someone else in that manner.

I've used CMPS from its earliest form and have never had better price/performance piece of code. It is free and even so, Brian has kindly customized some code for me some years back - all free of charge. And only way I could repay for this was to get branding free option. So please be more considerate and less pushy.

I buy a Hack/AddOn if it is worth the Money.

Hey, Don't Forget! This is a FREE software, and the author worked on it very Hard, night and day to improve and satisfy as much as possible, personally I think that you/all must do criticism if constructive, but there are ways and ways.

I also would like to be integrated this feature and there I was hurt when I saw that it was not, but I don't at fault because the author has certainly had their reasons or found some problems that canno't now devote his time.

I am very happy with this product because a comparison of its commercial rivals shows it's superior to them (and FREE).

Like wobbly, I regret when I read some criticism of people doing this to us without asking anything in back.

I do not want to argue over, but with this post tend simply to show my respect for this software, I agree when somebody says:
