Default Pagination question news.php/module...

I use a three-column frontpage where the center column takes up 400px fixed. That column is used for news. If I enable the newspagination (setting: Enable News Pagination) to more than 10 it ruïns my layout because the pagenav shows 5 navs to either side. Is it possible to reduce that number (probably hardcoded in news.php) to maybe two or three to avoid stretching my center column and show all previous pages through pagination? I'm using v3.0.1 and vbulletin 3.7...
