Default Want forum on default page

I'm not sure if I can explain this correctly.

Currently my forums are located at www.318ti.org/forum/
I would like my Default / Homepage at www.318ti.org/ to have my forum in the center column.

Then once I select vB another page having two columns with latest topics on the left and the forum on the right as it appears in http://www.318ti.org/forum/index.php but I still want the url to show as www.318ti.org/index.php

Is that possible other than having my forum in the root?

Add the chdir line from your cmps_index.php somewhere just before the call to global.php in your forum/index.php and then move that file to your root directory.

Didn't quite work.
I placed my forum index.php file in the root directory with chdir just about the global call. When I clicked on a forum it was looking in the root directory.
Would I need to add chdir to every file?

Sorry, didn't think about that... You'll need to modify your forumhome_forumbit_levelX templates and add $vboptions[bburl] in front of any links in those.

Or simply install vB in the root directory.
Since I need to update vB to 3.0.4 anyway, I think that is a cleaner solution.
I really like the simplicity of having a couple blocks on the left and the forum taking up the other two thirds. CMPS should be included with vB. I really think by having last topics viewable at all times will encourage people to post.

That is how I have http://www.nccbmwcca.org/forum set up.

Thanks for such a cool product!
