I have put the latest 10 entries in the What's New Module, and I do not want the last 10 entries to come up on the browse category page (to stop duplicate content).
How do I stop the last 10 entries from showing on the browse category page? Is there some sort of vb:if conditional I can use in the template page (ADV_DYNA_BROWSECATEGORY) around the part that shows the entrybits? Thank you for your help in advance. tfm (posting from aam's account) |

I think I should explain things a bit better. I am using an instance of dynamics as a News Section. I have set up two categories one called '2012 News' and another one called '2011 News'. Each of these contains the appropriate news articles that we have been writing for each respective year. In addition on the main index page (home page) for my News Section I have disabled the category display (modify settings > main index page options > disable category display: yes) and all I am using are some of the additional modules provided. The main module that I am using in the centre of the main index page is 'What's New' which I’ve called 'Latest News'. (I’ve also used various other modules on the right side of the main index page including 'category listing' which allows access to the browse category page for each category). I have set up my What’s New module, which is on the index page, to show X number of the newest articles - and what I was trying to do is remove these same X number of articles from being seen on the Browse Category Pages. This is so that my browse category page(s) can act like an archive of older news stories compared to the index page which shows only the latest news articles. For example if I have 12 newest articles showing on my index page using the ‘What’s New Module’ then I would like these 12 stories NOT to show (be removed) on the Browse Category page(s) for 2012 / 2011 News categories. I thought this way I would not have duplicate news stories (both on the index and browse category pages) and that the latest (new) news articles will only be available on the index page to start with and then when they get older they end up being viewable on the browse category page for 2012 / 2011 etc. At the moment my index page shows the latest (newest) news articles but my browse category page for 2012 News also shows the same new articles as on the index page plus the older articles which are no longer shown on the index page. (Also around early January I had the situation where the latest articles being shown by the What's New module came from more than one year ie from both the 2012 and 2011 categories.) So basically if the article is being displayed on the What's New module on the index page I do not want it to show on list of articles which are seen the browse category page. tfm (posting from aam's account) |
