How do I display news and announcements?
It's all installed, and set to display news and announcements, but the homepage instead just shows a list of recent threads. How can I get it to display only news and announcements, and the first 500 characters of the thread?

try to play with modules ....
you can set the first X words of each thread in the news module and also you can change the name of the recent threads to announcements and set the announcement forum to show only the announcements in the first page.
