Default Keeps going back to Home page - mobile only

Using the mobile skin on www.talkfender.com I'm having a problem displaying content.

I've added a adv_portal template to the mobile skin so I see the Grid Menu on the index page. I was having an issue where the "forum" link kept returning to the homepage, so I manually changed that grid menu link to /forum/forum.php.

That seemed to have solved the issue because now the "forum" link on the homepage grid menu goes to the thread index page.

But if you click on any forum link you are summarily returned to the home page again. I can see that the correct link address is going to the mobile skin's browser, but something is forcing that back to the homepage.

I thought perhaps I had a htaccess rewrite doing it - but nope.

And, this does this ONLY on the mobile skin. No issues at all with the normal site skin.

Can anybody give me some insight into what might be wrong here? I have checked the settings and rechecked them. Plus, I have other forums set up exactly the same way and they work normally.

Thanks in advance.

OK, I've worked on this and here's what I've found.

1. I'm using a custom style for my main style
2. Only pages that are integrated have this problem

If a page is not integrated in VBA the page will display normally in the vb mobile style. If the page is integrated the homepage will always be displayed.

If I remove the adv_portal template from the Mobile style, but leave forum.php and other pages integrated then when I visit forum.php I get a permission error.

I mentioned that I was using a custom theme for my default non-mobile style because I have one forum that uses the standard theme and vba integrated pages work in that website.

But I have two other websites that use a custom non-mobile theme and integrated VBA pages do not work and always revert to the homepage.

I'm really hoping Brian will take a look at this and jump in with some ideas.

Thanks

Still working on this issue. It seems unsolvable from my end.

I have one Vb 4.1.12 site with VBA installed that has pages integrated and they work fine in the standard mobile skin. So, I know it can work. But I have two other websites with VB 4.1.12 and VBA installed but no integrated pages will show up on the mobile style and they all redirect back to the homepage (index.php).

The only difference between these sites is the two that can't use VBA and the Mobile Style have a custom skin installed.

I've tried a number of possibilities to fix this.

Today, I downloaded the mobile style from the one site where my VBA works with mobile style and applied it to one of my sites where the two don't play well together. No Joy.

I tried setting one of the none working sites to the default skin instead of the custom skin but still no joy on the mobile style pages.

When only one of my websites did this, I was confident it was a set up issue where I missed something. But when a second one did this, then I started to see the pattern.

What puzzles me most is that if I remove the adv_portal template from the mobile style that I get permission errors on the forumhome and other URLs.

So, today I upgraded a 3rd froum to VB 4.1.12 and, you guessed it, VBA integrated pages don't work with the Mobile style.

So, now, it's 3 of my forums with this problem.

Still hoping that someday Brian or someone will comment on this issue.

I'm sorry, but the mobile style is not currently supported.

Thanks Brian.
I was just coming here to give my best Emily Litella impersonation.

Nevermind.

I was wracking my brain as to why this worked on one of my sites and not on the other three. And then it hit me. The site it works on uses VBA only to provide a homepage and no integrated pages elsewhere.

I'm using the VB 4.X Forum Blocks to put a sidebar in that forum. You'd think I'd know this, but it was done a couple of years ago, and I simply forgot all about Forum Blocks because I don't use the VB 4X CMS.

So, on my new forums I am now keeping VBA on the Homepage only and activating ForumBlocks and the Sidebar Everywhere Mod to do what VBA does so well. This way I can use the Mobile Style on those sites and still have a sidebar.
