Arrow ok, Who's had to move web Servers before??

As above really, as I haven't got a chuffing clue!!!

If you have, can you advise me the best way to move the forum and databases etc. Or, if you fancy earning a few bucks, I'll pay someone to do it!

Thanks in advance!

Allen, I went through it myself last month (shared server to a dedicated) and had Zachery (of Geeky Designs ) do it for me. I'm glad I did because he had me up & running on the new server pretty fast and pointed me in the direction of a few things to look out for also. Based upon my own personal experience with the move I give a thumbs-up recommendation to the Geeky team also.

Hey Allen,

I'm still getting issues trying to login to your ftp / forums to do the Install.

I am guessing that must be why in some respect you are looking at moving servers?

Cool, cheers guys!

Hey Zachery, this is starting to get infuriating!!! I really haven't got a clue what the problem is as all the details are correct. But yes, you're right it is one of the reasons why, as well as, the current server running in safe mode, gallery therefore doesn't work, we only get 4gb bandwidth, etc etc. New server gives us 60gb. We went with Hosting-Unlimited in the end!

Oh just one thing which we're just getting sorted, the administrator cannot create databases on the new server, although I can upload one, but it's being 'funny'. This is the error message we get

#1044 - Access denied for user: 'spotty@localhost' to database 'hello_nuts'

Once that's sorted, I'll be making another purchase Zachery

PS Zachery, I've just checked the access settings you have and everything is working ok, at the moment.......

I went through a server move just recently and with the help of my host ( owned both servers) it was completely painless. He moved my site for me and No hickups. You couldnt even tell it was moved. (except for the faster speeds I was getting)..

Geeky Designs come highly recommended!!!!! We moved servers with them and although there were a few hitches along the way, they have done an excellent job!!!

I'm sure they are. You won't find any hosting worth a damn for those prices per year.

Yes, my hosting prices are for monthly I've not had any real complaints about the price so far from any of my customers.

If you have any questions please feel free to post in the presales or send me an email

I just wanted to add the fact that everyone who uses my services have been very satisified Brian and Kevin have me as a System admin for their servers

Keep in mind, that especially with hosting companies, you get what you pay for.

Both www.realwebhost.com and www.asmallorange.com host a lot of vBulletin sites and the admins appear to have a lot of experience with the boards. You might try them.
