Any ideas how this impacts apps like vBadvanced Gallery etc? Does it mean no more app specific templates to deal with? Not quite clear how it will all work.....aside from that, lots to look forward to, that's for sure

Funkmeister, I was going to ask the same thing. Gallery will be updated for VB 3.5, right?

Yes, all of our products will be updated to work with 3.5. Once it's released then we will start working as quickly as possible to get our products up to date.

Brian, will vBAdvanced 2.0 be written as a plugin, so that not so many code modifications are required? One of the biggest pains about vBa and vBa Gallery is that upgrades to VB are a giant hassle.

I hadnt noticed that at all.. I my experience these were the least of my worries when upgrading vb. I can do CMPS in about 4 minutes and gallery in about 6.

Trust me when I say that re-installing vBa CMPS 2.0 should take even the most novice of users no more than about 2 minutes to do (that's including the FTP transfer time on even the slowest of connections). Doing an absolute fresh install should be about 5 minutes (I'm taking into account the time to step through the installation screens and then go back and specify a news forum ID).

Of course since vB 3.5 has not been released to the public yet it's too soon to say how 2.0 will interact with it but at least for the 3.0.x revisions CMPS 2.0 will be a breeze.

As Kevin said, 2.0 of the CMPS is much easier to install. The only required file modifications are the ones to your global.php file. With the way things sound about vB 3.5 we may be able to get away with no file modifications once we get 2.0 for 3.5 of the CMPS released.

There won't be an RC5. The next release will be 1.0.0.

You would think vBulletin would have a developer program like apple and others so that you could get advanced copies

And even though the amount of code to be inserted into global.php has been reduced in 2.0 versus the 1.x series.

(OK, that's one new feature I can now talk about publicly! )

As of right now the plan is to release 2.0 to work with vB 3.5, then once vB 3.5 is released we will work on getting 2.0 of the CMPS to work with it and most likely discontinue development of 2.0 for use with vB 3.x.

But Brian it will be like October or September since vb3.5 will be stable. Will we have to wait that long for cmps 2.0 ? And maybe because of some hacks installed in our boards we may start upgrading our boards like the beginning of 2006

We will still leave the last available version of each product for vB 3.x available and most likely still update them for bug fixes, but any new features and such will not be added to that series.

So, just curious, now that vBulletin 3.5 is in Beta 3.

Does the vBAdvanced team have an inkling how long they anticipate it to take to prepare vBAdvanced products for use with vB 3.5 after vB 3.5 is in final release?

Personally I won't be upgrading my site to 3.5.0 until all three vBAdv. products are updated - so its not just idle curiosity on my part.
