After (what seems like) forever, vBadvanced CMPS (Content Management & Portal System) is finally available for download in the Programs / Scripts section of the site! This new product is very similar to vBadvanced Homepage in the front end, but the backend is what makes this script very powerful. Some of the differences and new features include:
Upgrading from vBa Homepage is very simple. During the install, the script will check to see if you have vBa Homepage installed. If so, then you will be given the option to import your settings. Once you are confident that you are finished using vBa Homepage, you may then upload the install file that came with that product and select the option to un-install it. Documentation / User's Guide Unfortunatly I have not had time to write up any kind of user's guide for the product yet, but I do plan on making one that will be available in the new "Members Area" here. Most everything should be pretty easy to understand and there are descriptions for most options that will help you to understand how everything works. If you have a problem please feel free to post in the appropriate forum here. Screenshots / Demo For now, there isn't much in the way of screenshots or a demo. I simply haven't had the time to set this up yet and I figured people would much rather have the product sooner rather than waiting for a demo. I have posted some screenshots in this thread and demo will be added soon. Well that should be about it for now. I hope everyone enjoys the new product. I'm taking the rest of the night off to relax and watch the Braves games now.

Ahh crap, looks like a bug slipped through. I've just updated the zip file to fix this. Anyone that's already installed can download the files again, replace their modules/news.php with the new one, and replace their "read_more" phrase with this:
Code:
<span class="smallfont">[<a href="{1}/showthread.php?{3}t={2}">Read More</a>]</span>

Tigga - You're the man !!! I've just upgraded my board from 2.x to 3.0.1 and I was a user of your myvbindex portal which was superb. I was just about to install vbadvanced and then noticed your new release for the CMPS
.Excellent job !! P.S. Are you not going to release this on vB.org ? Last edited by Intex; 05-16-2004 at 04:12 AM. |

Great job Brian!! *installed*
Up and running fine so far. What an improvement! Only minor problem is the width of the calendar. Usses up too much column width, so I've disabled it. If I increase the right column width to suit, I find my centre blocks aren't wide enough Two very minor points as far as the installation instructions go....(unless I was that eager I missed these) No mention of uploading changed index.php to admincp folder No mention of saving 'Default Settings' initially. Fantastic hack! Al |

![]() Bluesteel - Thanks for pointing out that I missed the index file in the instructions. I've added that and updated the zip. I also updated the install file so that it's not necessary to save your settings after install (it was only necessary before if you imported your vBa Homepage settings). As for the calendar problem, please see this thread - http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=823

Does this CMPS output an RSS 2.0 XML feed for news readers?
If not, it would be a much appreciated feature that could help drive traffic back to our sites. |
