I have the same problem, have started with a fresh copy 5 times already and still get the same error. Any other advice?

Error is:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/content/c/h/e/cher123/html/bb/global.php on line 2

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/c/h/e/cher123/html/bb/global.php on line 2

what are you editing with? If it is an older version of Dreamweaver that could be the issue.

I use the newest DW and each line has a number so it is easy. In notepad you would have to count
shoot the file to me by either MSN messanger (mholtum@ravensrealm.net) or Yahoo (mikeholtum) will will check it for you.

if (defined('VBA_PORTAL'))

This should be your second line as everything above it is commented out.
